For thousands of years the Greek gods lead by Zeus have resided on top of Mount Olympus in private. The reason why the immortals closed their gates and withdrew from the human world is lost in time. And indeed, the legacy of these great ones has been all but forgotten in everything aside from American films. Once the ruling power over the land, with thousands of people sacrificing to them daily, the Greek gods have dwindled in the minds of the modern day human.

A week ago NASA logged a massive spike of energy in a remote corner of the Himalayas. For a full hour nations of the world were on high alert as all waited anxiously to hear news the energy spike had not been caused by a nuclear bomb. When a satellite finally passed over the area it revealed nothing out of the ordinary. Presently scientists are studying the area and the radiation spike, the current theory suggesting an upwelling of gaseous mantle below the mountains had caused the spike. Conspirator theories beg to differ however, ranging from the stereotypical alien invasion, to a secret weapons test by the Tibetan resistance. What is certain at this point is that this energy reading is highly unusual, but aside from that no new information has come to light.

The find of the millennia was discovered last night. Mt Kalichian in the Himalayas has revealed itself to be something more than it appeared. After the radiation spike that set the world on edge last week, a structure slowly began to emerge on the very peak of the mountain. Today it was revealed that this artifact was in fact a giant pair of golden gates. Religious followers the world over have begun pilgrimages to the gates believing them to be the gateway to heaven. Authorities caution against such actions as the journey is impossible and extremely dangerous. As yet the military has yet to find a way to reach the gates, either by foot or air; the terrain too steep and the gale force winds too dangerous for safe flying. They are halting all pilgrims at the base of the mountain. As to what the gates are, where they came from, and where they lead to the debate still rages. Some of the planets leading minds from all sectors of society have come together to reach a logical conclusion including Steven Hawking, Barrack Obama, Opera, and Bono just to name a few. No statement has been issued formerly yet.

The gates have opened! And they have revealed a gateway into what scientists are calling a new dimension. Instead of just showing the other side of Mt Kalichian the portal shows a staircase with what appears to be clouds surrounding it. NASA has just launched a shuttle through the portal and we cross to a live feed of the gates now…. Alright you can just see the base of the shuttle disappearing from view up the stairs… Wait… What’s happening? … Is that? Yes it is! Oh God! The shuttle has just been catapulted out of the gates and is now nothing more than a flaming wreckage! It’s rolling extremely fast down the slope… Oh Jesus… We’re going to go to a commercial and hopefully have some good news for you all when we come back…[/i][/font][/ul]
All attempts to enter the gates ended in similar failures. What’s more, mythical creatures began to terrorize the planet. A griffin started to pick off hundreds of people in South Africa. A Cyclops went on the rampage through England, destroying several towns. Sirens started to lure sailors to their doom once more along the Asian coast, etc. Eventually on the 3/7/2010 scientists figured out that the gates did not lead to heaven or an alternate reality, but rather they were the gates to Mount Olympus, and the gods were angry at humanity for renouncing them. They demanded the sacrifices owed them over the years needed to be repaid, and this time it was humanity who needed to be sacrificed.
All hope was not lost!
With the opening of the gates those who were descendants of the gods felt their powers emerge. Problem is, most of them are teenagers, are inexperienced with their powers, and have no idea what is happening to the world.
Tony, descendant of Oneiroi, deity of the dreams, was contacted by Greg, descendant of Geras, deity of ageing, for Greg had a vision of the future predicting he would need Tony’s help. He explained to Tony how he now had the power to teleport and instructed him on what was needed.
Tony followed Greg’s instructions and brought together the 10 heroes.
Demi, of Gaia, with the power to control earth. Eric, of Eros, object of desire. Elena, of Erebus, shadow manipulation. Tyler, of Typhoon, air manipulation. Philip, of Pontus, water control. Haley, of Hemera, solar radiation control, twin of Elena. Morgan, of Moros, probability control. Tony, of Oneiroi, controls minds through dreams and teleportation. Greg, of Geras, age by touch and prophesy. Asana, of Apate, illusionist.
Together the heroes vanquished the griffin from South Africa, the beast attacking them as Tony brought them together for the first time in Johannesburg. But mythical creatures spawned by the gods are not the limit of the threats to the world. Zeus has commanded Ares to bestow the powers of the Olympians unto those who were descendant from them, but whose bloodlines were not as pure as the above-mentioned heroes. He ruled that Ares must use his command of frenzy, hatred and bloodshed to pull these lesser descendants over to their cause with the promise of eternal life on Mount Olympus, so that they could cause the most mayhem in the world, and get rid of those newly awoken heroes, an unfortunate side effect of the gates opening. These “Fallen” have yet to reveal themselves to the teens.
For plot purposes only these canon positions are available for new characters. Once they have been filled up non-canons will be allowed, and lesser powers will also be granted to those of the blood. Humans will also become available later as well.
