He's out to protect his comrades and make sure nothing stops them from interfering and isn't afraid to get physical. History: Adam was born to Sergi and Anita Backlund December 16 1991 in Stockholm Sweden. Anita had been a student studying abroad in Sweden for her Journalism degree when she met Segri at a local hockey tournament she was covering for extra credits. He was the starter goalie for the home team and was one of three men the young American woman interviewed after the win Sweden took over Swizterland.

Upon completion of the interview, the two went out for celebratory drinks at Sergi's insistence. The two found in a whirlwind romance that resulted in one missed NHL opportunity, one unfinished degree and one set of confused and nervous parents-to-be.

Despite some hassle and crying from Anita's family to abort the pregnancy or at least return to the USA, the mis-matched couple had their first, though "illegitimate", child. Adam Miikka Backlund was born 9 days before Christmas out of wed-lock but adored by both sides of his family. His parents would later marry, allowing the young boy to bear witness to the ceremony and even have a part to play as a ring-bearer.

From a young age, Adam was on a pair of skates and swears he learned to skate before he could walk. Due to his dads direct associates and love for hockey and his mothers past a junior Olympian figure-skater, the was rarely a time during the winter the three weren't on ice, practicing and having fun. He was enrolled into a novice league shortly after his seventh birthday and proved to be quite a sight to see. Despite his fathers success as a goalie, it was obvious from the start that Adam would not be one to follow in his footsteps. At least not directly. Adam had his own talents in hockey that started to emerge when he was approximately 13 years old and was placed on his teams second line defense.

While Adam's abilities on skates flourished, his abilities in less exhilarating and fun areas such as school started to flounder. At the age of 15, Adam was benched for part of the seasons games due to an agreement between his teams coach, his parents and the school faculty. Since Adam was their star defense man (though he wasn't a spot-light hog), they were all leery about pulling him from several games including a small tournament until he pulled his grades up to an acceptable level that wasn't a bare minimum.

During this probation period, the young teen went through a rebellious stage which included skipping school and hockey practices all together; however it didn't take the boy long to figure out he was doing more damage than good to his own future and how everyone would view him.

By the time he graduated, Adam had reversed his academic situation and made the Honor Roll both in grade 11 and grade 12 and much to his pleasure, had returned to the ice. Due to his time off, many people thought the "golden child" had lost is touch, as was seen in his first game back though he quickly fell back into the groove of playing. Attending two international Under-18 hockey tournaments and preparing for is first Under-20, Adam was a force to be reckoned with.

During his next two stints at international Hockey, he would help to bring home two silvers and a bronze before being offered a contract with a Canadian NHL team, an opportunity he seized immediately. He is currently playing for the Calgary Flames though bounces a little between the NHL and their affiliated juniors team for ice time. It was during one of his (few) junior games that Adam was approached about an opportunity for immortality for a small price. Leery and uncertain about such an offer, Adam had attempted to refuse though found himself with his powers despite arguing with the older looking man about how all the immortality he needed was on the ice. He is now one fairly grouchy Demi-god.

His mother tries to instil the importance of a good education on him, in hopes he or his children will continue into post-secondary schooling (though she originally dreamed of becoming a world class figure skater herself) while his father presses him more on hockey due to his natural talent as both a forward and defense positioned player.

Personality: Adam is a very team oriented person. He isn’t shallow or conceded nor does he steal the show or blame individuals for a team-wide problem. He thinks strategically and often thinks it is better not to change things if they seem to be working well within reason. He tends to be more of a follower than a leader but isn’t afraid to rise to the challenge and take control when he needs to.
He’s creative and feels the best defense is a strong offense (meaning he’ll ask kick ass and ask questions later). He’s light hearted and can defuse many social situations though it normally consists of him saying something that sounds funny due to his accent or in some other way mocking his obvious differences to those around him.
He isn’t afraid to speak his mind and can be very out-going, out-spoken and a relative annoyance to those that want to be in control. He likes to be logical in his approaches and prefers to know why something is happening as opposed to just doing it. Adam has the habit of sticking his foot in his mouth, which is largely why, despite his declination, he was stuck with the powers Ares awoke him in.
